John Joseph Simone (Gino and "1028 John") to his friends), of Hopewell Jct, NY formerly of Hawthorne, NY, a loving husband and father, sports enthusiast, and a longtime restaurateur in Westchester, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, John passed on November 5th after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. He was 62. John was born to the late Joseph and Ann (nee Ferrone) Simone in the Bronx, NY. He attended St Peter's Grammar School, Yonkers, NY, graduated from Rice H.S., Manhattan, NY and served in The U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. The business of food was one of John's passions. He started out working in his parent's business in Mt. Vernon, NY and later with them at Benny's Restaurants in Yonkers and Valhalla, NY. He was co-owner of Benny's Restaurant in Larchmont, NY, Simone's Coffee Shop, Hollywood, FL, and Centerfield Coffee Shop, Ossining, NY. Always quick with a smile, John was even quicker to help people forget their problems and feel special about themselves. At Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church he married and is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Diana (nee Greco). He is also survived by his daughter Dena whom he loved dearly; his sister, Phyllis Hahn of FL. his brothers, Charles (Ann Bracciodieta) of NV, and Joseph (Linda Bianco) of NYC. He was an out Standing uncle to one niece and five nephews, three great nephews and one great niece. Son-in-Law to Susan (Torres) Greco, of Hawthorne, NY and sisters-in-law, Christine Greco of Hawthorne and Juliette Greco Smith (Russell) of Beacon, NY. He is predeceased by his Brother-in-law, Jerry Hahn and. Father-in-law, John A. Greco. Friends and family may gather at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Friday November 9, from 5 - 9 pm. Funeral Mass Saturday 11:00 a.m., Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2 Lyons Place White Plains, NY 10601. Also, John wishes to thank all of his friends at both the 570 and 2700 buildings.
