John A. Salvatore

John A. Salvatore 99, of West Harrison, N.Y. died on Nov. 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born on Nov. 2, 1919 to the late Ralph and Rita Salvatore in Philadelphia, PA. John served proudly with the US Army during WWII. He was owner-operator of Sal’s Auto Body in White Plains, N.Y. John was a Golden Gloves Champ. He was a former member and past president of the Harrison Board of Education and also a member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council of White Plains. Later in life, he became fond of motorboating, and purchased a series of cabin cruisers from which he fished with his friends on Long Island Sound. He was also an avid attentee of race tracks around the country and from that activity, met and became best friends with the entertainer Cab Calloway. He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Salvatore and one deceased grandson. John is survived by his wife, Annette Salvatore and his children, Ralph (Donna), John (Jack), Linda O’Neill and his step daughter, Barbara Anne Short. Also survived by his one sister, six grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great granddaughter, Gwenevyre. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, St. Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison, N.Y. on Wednesday, 10 AM. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to The American Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
