John A. Kubicsko 76, Retired YFD of Valhalla, N.Y. died on Nov.17, 2017. He was born on Aug.22, 1941 to the late John and Mary (nee Figura) Kubicsko in Yonkers, N.Y. where he was raised and graduated from Saunders Trade Tech High School in 1960. After high school he worked in the construction industry , up until he was appointed to the Yonkers Fire Department in 1970 where he received three Class III Awards. John proudly served the Yonkers Fire Department for 29 years before retiring in 2000. John also drove school buses in Valhalla for Stotz’s Garage for several years. He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances (nee DeMarsh) Kubicsko of Valhalla, N.Y. and his loving daughter, Katherine (Steve) Desiderio of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. and by his cherished grandsons, John and Michael Desiderio. Also survived by his sister, Marion (John) Vitrit of Yonkers. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Saturday, 10 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
