John Goddard Dolan aka "Digger" left this world on March 24, 2023, surrounded by his family.
John passed at Rhode Island Hospital, from complications related to cancer, where in his final days he was cared for by a staff of compassionate professionals who allowed him to enter eternal life with respect and dignity. A proud man, he kept his illness to a minimum & journeyed on fulfilling his bucket list.
John is predeceased by his parents Margaret Marie (Carey) Dolan and Thomas Norman Dolan. He is survived by his significant other, Marlene Jupiter. Marlene loved John unconditionally and stood by his side supporting him and protecting him throughout all his adventures for the past 20 years. During the last few years, Marlene has been John's primary caretaker and protector. John is also survived by his older brothers Tom, Mike and Tim and his younger sister Kathryn, and their spouses, Kathy Murphy, Kathy Donovan, Shannon Flynn and Kevin Wall. He was a man who loved good deals, travel, sports, family and friends as well as living life to the fullest! No one was a stranger to 'The Digger'.
Although John never had his own children, he was blessed to have thirteen adoring nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews, who all loved sharing laughter and stories with him whenever he was in town. John went out of his way to be around for every family event and he always brought lots of energy and excitement. There was never a dull moment when Uncle Digger was in town!
John was eternally optimistic, selfless, and forgiving. Anyone who really knew John, knew that he had a big heart or as everyone has said, "a heart of gold". John never arrived anywhere empty handed, whether if it was a simple gift from his favorite Dollar Store or a large gift of cash. John was proud of his Irish heritage, proud to be an active supporter of the Republican Party & an avid Villanova fan.
He will be sadly missed, but his epic life adventures, and spirit, will keep him alive in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. John was truly one of a kind! Godspeed John our brother, uncle and friend. Rest in Peace & open the pearly gates when it is our turn to join you!
