John DiChristina a beautiful loving Dad, husband, brother, grandfather, Uncle, Cousin & friend to many passed away this Friday 12/27/2019 two weeks after his 80th birthday. John was born 12/11/1939 and grew up in the Bronx where he met his one true love, Lucille. Lucille passed away in 2005. John and Lucille moved the family from The Bronx in 1976 and made their new home in the Orchid Hill section of Greenburg.

John graduated from Evander Childs High School in The Bronx, where he lettered in football.

He is survived by his three sons, Peter, John, and Paul and 4 grandchildren, Aaron, Lucy, Addison, Daisy, and to many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews to name. John was an avid New York sports fan. He followed his beloved Yankees, Rangers, Giants, and Knicks. His Yankee fan origin story begins with Joe DiMaggio. Joe and John shared the same initials JD. When the Rangers won the Stanly Cup in 1994 after 40 years, he was heard to say thought I would never live long enough to see the day the Ranger won a Stanley Cup.

John loved to bowl and played in a League for over 40 years. He even had a chance to play in Pro/Am Tournament. John told great stories of his bowling years, from his teammates to his accomplishments. He best tale was his flirtation with a perfect score. As he related, he threw 10 strikes in a row. As he got to the line to through his 11th ball, everyone in Bowling Ally stopped to watch. He throws the ball and it hit the pocket perfectly, but 2 pins were left standing. Completing the spare John finished with his best game of 288.

John always had time for his family. He enjoyed playing Pinochle, board games and softball with his three sons. According to John he was the King of Monopoly and had a monopoly of winning in King Oil.

He will be missed for his love for his wife, love for his family, his Herculean work ethic, his sense of humor and his monstrous softball moonshots he once hit with our childhood friends.
