John Neal Curtis, affectionately known as 'Neal', passed away at St. Johns Nursing Home in Rochester, NY, on February 17, 2024. Born on December 21, 1924, Neal lived a fulfilling life of 99 years.
A lifelong resident of White Plains, NY, Neal graduated from White Plains High School on June 22, 1942, where he distinguished himself as the senior class president. Shortly after his graduation, Neal was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving honorably in World War II. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Neal returned to White Plains, where he married his beloved, Claire Alice Vogt (later Curtis). Neal furthered his education by earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from New York University and embarked on a successful career with the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) in New York City.
Neal's legacy is carried on by his family: his wife Claire (deceased), and their five children: Wayne Neal Curtis (deceased), Bruce Neal Curtis (Joann), Nancy Claire Galyon (Timothy), Scott Neal Curtis (Nina), and Kathy Claire Williams (Jed). Neal was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren Shaun, Brian, Matthew, Daniel, Rachael, Kristen and great-grandfather to Eleanor.
Neal's remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held June 29, 2024. His ashes will be interred alongside those of his wife, Claire, and son, Wayne, in White Plains Rural Cemetery, White Plains, NY.
