John D. Cristello

John D. Cristello, of Elmsford, passed from this life, surrounded by his family, on September 1, 2018, at the age of 69. Born on May 5, 1949 to Joseph and Louise Cristello in White Plains, he was a lifelong area resident. John is survived by a daughter, Elaine of Mount Vernon, a son, Jay and daughter-in-law Julie of Melville, and a sister, Stephanie Gerardi (Paul) of Port Chester. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Cristello and 20 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 6 sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Mary Eileen of 25 years, and his house-sharing friend of 9 years, Ellen Lynn Hershey. John attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Archbishop Stepinac and Pace College Westchester.  He retired from the Town of Greenburgh where he worked for 37 years and was very active in the CSEA Unit 8215. He was a member of the American Italian Club of Elmsford and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was an avid sports watcher, especially his favorite team the New York Yankees. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 7, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford on Saturday, September 8, at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Elmsford NY.
