John Carelli 85, most recently of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. and formerly of Valhalla, N.Y. died on Nov.12, 2012 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, N.Y. He was born on August 20, 1927 to the late Santo and Maria Carelli in Yonkers, N.Y. John proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He was a retired welder for the Westchester County Parks and Recreation Dept. in Eastchester, N.Y. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary (nee Sansalone) Carelli of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. four loving daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Lewis of Croton, N.Y., Jodi (Andrew) Kraus of Northport, N.Y., Mary (Richard) Foley of Mahopac, N.Y. and Jane (George) Gonda of Montrose, N.Y. one sister, Mary, also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Predeceased by his two brothers ad four sisters. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Sunday, 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Monday, 10 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
