John H. Bottjer died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 28, 2015. He was born on April 27, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York to John and Dorothy Bottjer. Growing up in Brooklyn, he attended Erasmus Hall High School and Columbia College, graduating with a degree in economics in 1948. He went on to Haverford College, receiving a master’s degree in economics. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn, three sons, David (Sarah), Paul and John (Lauri) and beloved granddaughter Kendall. He was a 62-year resident of Eastchester and enjoyed a successful career with his own company in mortgage financing and real estate investments, retiring only recently. His avocation, growing through his life, was nature photography, for which he won many prizes. The viewing will be at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home at 2 Maple Avenue in White Plains on Monday, March 30, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. His funeral service will be at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church on 3 Carhart Avenue at Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains on 11 AM on Tuesday, March 31. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NY Botanical Garden, Bronx, New York.
