John J. Amoruso, Sr. 89, of Pleasantville, N.Y. and formerly of Mamaroneck, N.Y. Died on Feb. 16, 2007 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. He was born on May 28, 1917 to the late Angelo and Carmela (nee Palazzo) Amoruso in Mt.Vernon, N.Y. John served in the CCC's and the US Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged after the war and resided in New Rochelle, N.Y. He married Renata(Cesaretti) in Mt.Vernon, NY on April 8, 1944. John and Renata moved to Mamaroneck, N.Y. in 1954 and resided there for over 50 years. Currently he was residing with his wife Renata at his son Michael's home in Pleasantville, N.Y. John attended Mt.Vernon schools and worked the major part of his life for the City of New Rochelle in the Public Works Dept. and Palmer Ave. Garage in Bronxville. Along with his wife Renata of 62 years, he is survived by six children; John and his wife Suzanne of Hawthorne, N.Y. Frank and his wife Dona of Henderson, NV, Anthony and his wife Fran of Charlotte, NC, Michael and his wife Joan of Pleasantville, N.Y. Thomas and his wife Dawn of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Carla of Albuquerque, NM. Also survived by 14 grandchildren Mark, Carol and husband Nick, Jimmy, Joanne, Kessondra, Peter, JJ, Samantha, Ashley, Michael, Nicholas, Jessica, Amanda and Robert. Also survived by 1 great grandchild Nicholas. Predeceased by 3 sisters and 3 brothers. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass Holy Innocents Church, Pleasantville, N.Y. Wednesday lO AM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer's Assoc. would be appriciated.
