Joan J. Stone

Joan J. Stone 71, of Valhalla, N.Y. died on March 25, 2012 at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. She was born on Dec.12, 1940 to the late John and Marie (nee Cassidy) Cronin in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. She was a self-employed registered nurse. Joan was an active parishioner at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla, N.Y. where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Basic Folk Group. Joan was also a member of the first group of Companions in the community of the Devine Compassion. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Harry J. Stone in 1999 and is survived by her loving children; Harry, Jr. (Grace) Stone of Valhalla, N.Y., John (Maria) Stone of White Plains, N.Y., Michael (Jonathan Mador) Stone of Bridgeport, Conn. and Lori (John) Werdann of Pensacola, Fla. one sister, Jackie Russell of Hollywood, Fla. Also survived by her nine cherished grandchildren and one great grandson. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday (today) 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Wednesday 10 AM. Entombment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to Cerebral Palsy Foundation would be appreciated.
