Joan Tama-Santoiemma, has sadly passed away in the serenity of her own home on November 1, 2023, at the age of 85 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on June 22, 1938 to Dominick and Rose Tama in the Bronx and lived and raised her family in Yonkers, NY with her late husband Joseph Santoiemma whom she was married to for 55 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and kept close relationships with her siblings. She loved and took care of her family unconditionally, was a highly skilled bowler, avid reader, dog lover, and Mets fan. Joan enjoyed attending her grandchildren's life milestones, sporting events, school functions, graduations, which meant the world to them and will be etched in their memories forever.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Marolda and her husband Joseph, and her brother Joseph Tama and his wife Joyce; her two sons John and James Santoiemma, and daughters Janet Lyons and Jeanne Martimucci. She adored her 3 grandsons: Joseph, Jason and Anthony Santoiemma who reside in Florida, and her 7 granddaughters: Amanda Goodman and Katherine Lease-Williams, Jessica and Lisa Martimucci, and Rebecca, Julie and Allison Santoiemma. She also had one great grandson Luca Joseph and newly born great granddaughter Presley June. And we can't forget the "outlaws" . . . her step-children Joseph Martimucci, Tom Lyons, Lisa Santoiemma and Lynn Santoiemma whom she loved as they were her own.
A special shout-out to her amazing health aides, Carmen Wisdom and Carol Walsh. We could not have asked for more compassionate and professional ladies to care for Joan for the last 5 years.
A memorial will be held on the Sunday November 12, 2023, 1:00pm at St John's Episcopal Church, 8 Sunnyside Ave, Pleasantville 10570.
