Joan Morandi, 88, of Elmsford, N.Y. passed away on March 9, 2023. She died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident. Joan was a lifelong resident of Elmsford, New York.
She briefly worked as a dental hygienist but then dedicated her life to motherIng. She married her husband, John, 66 years ago and together they raised 7 children: Laura Desiderio, Eric Morandi, Joel Morandi, Dr. Gail Fennell, David Morandi, Monica Liman and William Morandi. Additionally, she fostered countless infants for the Cardinal McCloskey Home and provided cared for many local children while their parents worked. She was truly a mother to all.
Joan is survived by her grandchildren Matthew Desiderio, Amanda Ferguson, Nicole Morandi, Cody Morandi, Ryan, Kevin, and Bradley Fennell and Jay Liman and her great grandchildren Benjamin and Emily Ferguson and Remi Cueto.
She enjoyed gardening, cleaning, caring for her many pets, and attending the monthly senior luncheons where she visited with her high school classmates and friends.
The family would like to express our immense gratitude to the Greenburgh and Ardsley Police Departments and their Paramedic/Rescue Squads, as well as the staff and physicians of the Westchester Medical Center Emergency Room and Trauma ICU for their service and exemplary care.
Visitation will be held at the Ballard-Durand funeral home in Elmsford, New York, on Sunday, March 12 from 2 to 6 PM. Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 13, at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford, New York. Entombment will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, New York.
