Joan Gibson

Joan Gibson was born on July 16, 1938 to Ausilia DiNola and John Gibson in the Bronx, New York. She was a beloved mother to Deborah Valentino, Kathleen Diaz, and Robert Boylhart; mother-in-law to Larry Valentino and Joseph Diaz; sister to James and Martin Gibson; sister-in-law to Betty Gibson; grandmother to Gina and Lori Valentino, Scott Diaz, Jennifer Abousaada, Ashley Lyman, and Bobby Boylhart; great grandmother to Nina and Claire; aunt to Kristin and Lauren Gibson; granddaughter of Giacomo DiNola; niece of Rose and Camille Taurone; and cousin to the Taurone family.
Joan was a proud flight attendant for American Airlines before she dedicated her life to her family. On April 24, 2020, “Ma,” as she was fondly known by many, sadly passed away from the COVID-19 virus. She had been suffering with Alzheimer’s disease for many years. Her decline was absolutely heartbreaking, but we know she knew how much we loved her. She was the foundation of our family from the East to the West Coast and she was adored by all. She celebrated each and every one of us and now we join together to celebrate her memory. While we were not able to hold her hand in her final moments, we take comfort in the knowledge that she is now at peace and protected by God and reunited with our family above.
