Jean K. Dickie, a 50-year resident of Hawthorne, N.Y., passed away peacefully Saturday, April 11, at her residence at the Birches in Newtown, Pa., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 89. Jean was the beloved wife of the late George M. Dickie Jr. Born and raised in Whitestone, N.Y., Jean was the daughter of Marie Louise and William Krockta and the sister of the late Harry Krockta. Jean was the loving mother of her daughter, Laura Louise Wallace, and her son, George M. Dickie III. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Kevin Wallace of Buckingham, Pa.; daughter-in-law Linda Dickie of Gansevoort, N.Y.; and her three cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Aileen and Brendan Wallace. Jean is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Krockta of St. James, N.Y., and Joan Dickie of Washington D.C. Jean was a graduate of Bayside High School in Queens, N.Y. She worked for many years as an executive secretary for General Motors Acceptance Corporation and the Conservation Foundation in New York City. Jean's greatest role in life was that of a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Tuesday 4-8PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY Wednesday 10AM.
