Janice Laraine Pasquerella of Ossining and Port Saint Lucie, FL died on March 7, 2012 at home after a valiant seven month battle with lung cancer. Mrs. Pasquerella was a teacher for more than 25 years. She taught in the Ossining School District for 18 years and retired in 2005. Janice was born on February 14, 1943, in Troy, NY to Frank and Jane Hotchkiss Lenda. She was raised and educated in Latham, NY. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from SUNY Oneonta and received her master's degree from Fordham University. Mrs. Pasquerella lived in Port Saint Lucie, FL for the past seven years returning to Ossining each year to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She lived in Ossining since 1974. Locally, she was a long-time member of St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff and more recently attended St. Augustine's Church in Ossining with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by John, her loving husband of 46 years; her three children and their families: her sons Jeffrey, his wife Anna; Douglas, his wife Christina; her daughter, Alyson O'Connor, and her husband Christopher, as well as her five grandchildren, John, Olivia, Luke, Mia and Jack. Family members who died earlier include her father, Frank, mother, Jane and brother, Jon. She was, as her entire family was, most grateful for all your mass cards, prayers, cards, flowers and gifts. The volume of which was incredible. She attempted to respond and thank everyone, but both the disease and the medication made it impossible to keep up with her appreciation. The funeral mass will be held on March 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine's Church in Ossining. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mrs. Pasquerella's honor for cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center by logging on to www.fredsteam.org and entering the name Jeff Pasquerella. Thank you in advance for your generous support.
