Janice Patricia Goodman born January 23, 1948 in Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully early in the morning on June 5, 2010. Daughter of the late Thomas and Florence Gary, she was raised and educated in Yeadon, PA. She attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969.
She moved to New York City and joined AT&T in 1970 where she enjoyed a stellar 18-year career in various departments and offices in New York City, Washington D.C. and finally, White Plains, NY, advancing in seniority and accomplishments to Director of System Assessment before retiring in 1988.
She married Edward Goodman in 1972. Their 22-year marriage produced 2 beautiful children, Tamara Alise and Derek Edward. After living in New Jersey, Virginia and New York, Janice and Edward settled and raised their family in Bergenfield, NJ.
Janice moved back to New York in 1997. She was most recently employed by the Special Education Department for the City of New Rochelle School System before retiring in March 2010.
Janice was an incredibly kind, caring and loving person who enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved to travel, was at most peace at the beach and visited the island of Jamaica numerous times. Her smile was genuine and warm; her laugh was infectious. She touched many with her generous heart, listening ear and desire to help others.
She is survived by: her daughter Tamara Goodman of Brooklyn, NY; her son Derek Goodman of Queens, NY; aunt Wilma Carter of Elkins Park, PA, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will forever cherish and miss the presence and impact she has made in their lives.
