James E. “Jim” Bayreuther, 81, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at home with his wife by his side. Born on March 5, 1941, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Edgar and Dorothy MacKenzie Bayreuther. He was the faithful and devoted husband of Vivian Ernst Bayreuther.
A dedicated public servant of New York City, Jim retired as Sgt. from the New York City Police Department in 1984. A love of the North Myrtle Beach area, Jim and Vivian purchased their first home in North Myrtle in 1987 but became full-time “South Carolinians” in 2004.
Jim was a devout Catholic and an active member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Vivian, are his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Michael Storms; son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Michelle Bayreuther; daughter-in-love: Patricia Bayreuther; grandchildren, Laurel (Joe), Jaclyn, Chloe, Brianna (Zak), James A. and great-grandson, Derek. Jim is also survived by his brother Gerald Bayreuther (Janet).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
