James Philip Thompson, a native of Washington, died in New York City on January 26, 2017. He was a graduate of Washington High School and The University of Georgia. He received his MBA at Columbia University in New York. He was a CPA and during his career he worked in national corporations on both the east and west coasts. He took pleasure in New York theater, concerts and museums. He was a member of groups that took lengthy walking tours around Manhattan. He was an enthusiastic traveler and visited six of seven continents. In recent years his activities were curtailed by Parkinson's Disease but he continued to enjoy books, music, and visits from family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawson Elwyn and Maxie Combs Thompson both life long residents of Washington, and by his brother William Combs Thompson and his sister Mary Carolyn Thompson Street. He is survived by his sister Barbara Thompson Dean and nephews and nieces. Following private services, he will be interred at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, GA.
