James F. Roche, 81 of Valhalla, died July 25, 2015. James was born April 15, 1934 in New York, New York to the late Edward Roche and Anne Burke. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in 1959. He taught English/Grammar in the New York City Public School System for 32 years at PS 45 Junior High School in the Bronx. He married Barbara Ann Notare on December 26, 1959. They moved to Valhalla in 1963 and proceeded to raise seven children. James was a devoted husband and father, and an active parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Parish throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his sister Patricia, and his children, James (Elizabeth), Virginia Escobedo (Peter), Patricia Kreamer (Peter), Kathleen Diemoz (Timothy), John (Mary), Lawrence (Rocio) and Michael (Patricia). He was pre-deceased by his grandchild Brendan, and is survived by his grandchildren Justin, Brianna, Chris, Emily, Katherine, Alexandria, Brendan, Luke, Christopher, James, Benjamin, Nathanial, Andrew and Liam. He was expecting his sixteenth grandchild, Keira, in the fall. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Tuesday July 28th, 4pm – 8pm.
Mass of Christian Burial, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, Wednesday, July 29th at 11:30am. Internment, Gate of Heaven Cemetary, Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
