James Wendell McRae

James Wendell McRae, Sr. 70, passed away on December 20, 2022, at South Shore University Hospital, Bayside, New York after a brief illness. For the past few years James lived on Long Island and could be spied making his daily walks to keep fit.

James was born on July 10, 1952, in White Plains, New York to the late James Willie McRae and Marion Hall McRae Pedrow. He attended local schools and graduated from White Plains High School (Class of 1970) where he played football and participated in Model UN. After graduation, James went to Pace University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (1975). After graduation James worked in sales and advertising for CBS and other local television and radio stations. In retirement he worked for EmpireCLS Worldwide Chauffeured Services while actively pursuing a voice acting career with the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences.

An avid reader and a consummate learner, James was well versed in worldly affairs, politics, and the happenings of the day. He was always ready to discuss or debate, but regardless, he acknowledged that God would always have the last say. His sense of humor was limitless, and he knew how to make you laugh. As an active member of True North Community Church, (Long Island, New York) and the Men's Discipleship Network (Farmingdale, New York), James focused on being obedient to God through word and deed.

James leaves his mother, Marion Pedrow, sons James W. Jr. (Bronx)Christian and Sedric (Long Island), sisters: Gloria Rivera (Yonkers), Fitzallen (George Sessoms/brother-in-law) of Peabody, Massachusett, brothers Whamon Pedrow (Greenburgh) and Clifford Pedrow of (Queens), former wives Iris Shelton McRae of (Yonkers), and Gail McRae (Long Island)

He leaves a host of nieces and nephews: Melissa, Morgan, George McKenzie, Latoya, Kevin, Jaheim, Rahsaan, Chantel, Clifton, Jennifer, Justin, many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

James is preceded in death by father, James W. McRae, his brother Michael, and his stepfather, Whamon Pedrow. .
