James L. McGraw a lifelong resident of Elmsford, NY died on Monday December 2, 2019 after a short stay at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. James was born in Ossining, NY on April 7, 1927 a son to the late James and Leanora (Locker). James attended Alexander Hamilton H.S. in Elmsford, NY before enlisting in the Navy during WWII and later married Doris Habermehl in 1949. They were married 68 years before her passing in 2016. James and Doris were avid bowlers and enjoyed traveling. James also enjoyed playing golf. He is a 70-year member of the Local IBEW Union, a life member of the VFW and a Freemason achieving the grade of Grand Master of the Masonic Temple Diamond Lodge in Dobbs Ferry, NY #555 F&AM. James is survived by his six children, Cheryl (Douglas) Dean, James J. (Debbie) McGraw, John (Loril) McGraw, Candice (Dennis) Percopo, Jill (John) Malone and Scott (Jenifer) McGraw. His 21 cherished grandchildren survive him as well as 8 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. James is predeceased by his wife Doris and his 3 siblings, Russell, Roen and Jerry. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Disabled Veterans of America.
