James I Hovanec

James I. Hovanec, longtime resident of Elmsford, died on March 29, 2012. He was 82. Mr. Hovanec worked as a firefighter for the City of White Plains. He was with the company for over 30 years before he retired. Mr. Hovanec was born July 22, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, NY to Irvin and Ann Hovanec. He was educated in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Edison Vocational & Technical H.S. Locally, he was a parishioner of Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford since 1960. He is predeceased by his wife, Marion (Marcsisin) Hovanec. He is survived by his children, Patricia Larson, Jeanette van-Dorp and Robert James Hovanec; His grandchildren, Kerri, William, Brian, Brent, Robert, Nikki, Alan, Marybeth and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition.
