James R. Benedict, 93, passed away February 9, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. James was born August 14, 1929 in White Plains to Alexander J. and Julie (Motts) Benedict. He graduated from White Plains High School and New York University. James served his country in the US Marine Corp as a Drill Instructor. On August 23, 1953, James married the love of his life Norma A. Forzano at Holy Family Church in New York. James was a Teacher of Industrial Arts at The Scarsdale Middle School for 29 years where he inspired many students. James is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma, Brothers David and Brian and many adoring nieces and nephews. Brothers Alexander, Robert, and Edward predeceased him. Visiting hours will held at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home Wednesday February 12, 2020 from 6pm-8pm. Services will be held at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home the following morning, Thursday February 13, 2020 11am-12pm followed by interment at White Plains Rural Cemetery.
