It is with great sadness to announce that Irwin Katz left the living on October 27th of 2024, passing away peacefully in the care of Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY after 93 loving and wonderful years.

 Born to Annette and Herman Katz (both deceased) on October 18th, 1931 in Bedford Hills, NY, Irwin graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY in 1953. He then joined the US Army from 1953-1955, making rank of Corporal. Irwin then went on to become a licensed CPA in 1960 after graduating from Rider University in 1957.

Irwin's professional career:

~ 1960-1976: CFO, Empire Brush Company, Port Chester, NY

~ 1976-1985: CFO, American Technical Industries, Inc. NY, NY, manufacturer of artificial Christmas trees

~ 1985-1987: CFO, Art Steel Company, manufacturer of steel file cabinets 

~ 1987-1990: CFO, Edward Boker, Inc., NY, NY, institutional wholesale food distributors

~ 1990-2000: CFO, Hudson Valley Tree, Inc., Newburg, NY, manufacturer of artificial Christmas trees.

Irwin is survived by his loving, wonderful wife of 58 years, Alberta “Albie” Katz, (née Marks), happily married on October 1st, 1966, and their son Bradley Katz, his son Alan Katz, his “brother from another mother” Gary Marks, the rest of the Marks family, and his dog Jazzy. 

Irwin was predeceased by his daughter Barbra Jo Katz, and dogs, Kim, Bebe, Markie, and Annie. 

Besides his family including all his dogs, Irwin loved sports including football, holding season tickets to the NY Giants and attending 2 Superbowls, and hockey, attending the NY Rangers’ Stanley Cup Victory in 1994. Irwin was an avid softball player with his beloved team of Sand Springs, and a golfer well into his senior years, working as a ranger at both the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, CA, and Maple Moor Golf Course in White Plains, NY. Irwin loved traveling with his wife Albie, taking many vacations and cruises, and purchased a vacation home with a view of the Pacific Ocean in Del Mar, CA.
