Irene M. Sakal

Irene M. Sakal 96, of Pleasantville, N.Y. died on Feb. 20, 2020 at her residence. She was born on Dec. 16, 1923 to the late Andrew and Mary (nee Kerekes) Saban in Yonkers, N.Y. Irene was a retired secretary at IBM in Armonk, N.Y. She loved spending summers in Lake Sacandaga in the Adirondacks and winters in Daytona Beach, FL. She also loved Knitting, Crocheting and was an Avid New York Mets Fan. Irene loved most of all spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, William Sakal in 1980 and had one deceased sister, Marion Sikora and two deceased step sisters, Helen and Frances. Irene is survived by her loving children, William M. (Catherine) Sakal of Maine, Patricia (Howard) Hoffman of Flemington, N.J., Joseph B. (Dina) Sakal of Skaneateles, N.Y., Kevin T. (Alicia) Sakal of Sherman, CT. and Barbara Laderman of Natick, Mass. Also survived by her six cherished grandchildren, Jasmine, Samantha, Victoria, Daniel, Kevin and Douglas and many nieces and nephews. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Monday, 9 AM-11 AM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Monday, 11:30 AM. Interment to follow.
