Hui Li passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2022, after a 15-month fight against acute myeloid leukemia.
Hui was born in Tianjin, China on March 17, 1962. Both of her parents were doctors which inspired her to pursue a career in medicine as an acupuncturist. Hui received her M.D. from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1984 after being trained in both Chinese and Western medicine and later, her Ph.D. from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2012. She was an active member of the American TCM Society (ATCMS). She treated her patients with kindness and compassion and was a college professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture at Pacific College of Health and Science for two decades. Her dedication to helping others spread to her daughter who also became an acupuncturist and worked alongside her mother at their family practice.
Hui had a passion for gardening and dancing. On most Sundays, you would find her with her dance group practicing for their next recital. During the summertime, Hui would often be tending to her vegetable garden and frequently gifted her neighbors and friends with tomatoes and squashes. Hui was also an avid traveler having been to 22 states and 40 countries. Whether it was sailing on an Alaskan cruise, snorkeling in Hawaii, hiking in the Alps, or going on a safari ride in South Africa, Hui enjoyed trying new foods, learning about other cultures and relishing in new experiences.
Above all, Hui cherished being “Lao Lao” (grandma) to her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society .
