Hugh M. Delvalle, of White Plains, NY, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at home. He was 88 years old. Hugh was born, March 9, 1920 in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Kenneth and Eunice Delvalle. He was a member of the Old Guard in White Plains, the Rye Association for the Handicapped and a volunteer at the White Plains Hospital Center. Hugh has had extensive experience with the international fertilizer markets. Between 1955 and 1980, he served as vice president of the Interore Subsidiary of Occidental Chemical Corp., where he was instrumental in opening up the Latin American market for Interore. He opened up joint purchase and sales agreements with the Mexican government under the direction of the late Dr. Armand Hammmer. After he retired in 1980, he formed his own company Delchem offering his trading expertise as a consultant in the development of markets with domestic and foreign products. Hugh's beloved wife, June, son Bruce and daughter, Margot (George) Delvalle-Pierro survive him as well as grandchildren, Dana Delvalle, Katy Pierro, and Jacquelyn Pierro. He was preceded in death by a brother Malcolm Delvalle and son Kenneth Delvalle and his family. Entombment will be at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, NY.
