Henrietta G. Kalle' of White Plains, NY died at home on May 30 after a brief illness, she was 98. She was born October 21, 1912 in Brooklyn, NY to Stephen and Stephanie Budzynska Gurnisiewicz. They emigrated from Poland to the United States through Ellis Island. She grew up in Croton Falls, NY where she attended local schools, graduating from Katonah High School in 1929. She was a resident of White Plains since 1929, the year the family moved to this city. On July 24, 1946 she and Edward A. Kalle' were married at the Chatterton Hill Congregational Church in White Plains, NY. He passed away December 1, 1959. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company in various capacities for forty eight years, retiring in 1977. Her community involvement included serving on the Board of Directors of the Battle Hill Association for many years; President of the Women's Association of Chatterton Hill Church where she sang in the choir, was Historian for many years and represented the church in the Interfaith Council of White Plains. She was named Woman of the Year in 2005. During the 1940's she sang at the USO programs given at various country clubs in the area to entertain the service men. She is survived by a brother, Stephen D. Gurnis (aged 96) of Hartsdale, NY, a niece, Jeanne P. Gurnis of Hartsdale, NY, a nephew, Stephen D. Gurnis and a grand-nephew, Michael Stephen Gurnis of Sussex, NJ, and her brother Witold Gurnis' children, Gary Gagne of Manchester, NH and Deborah Gagne of White Plains, NY. She is predeceased by her sister Mary Rybinsky and her brother Witold Gurnis.
