Helene Segel

Helene Segel passed away November 16, 2013, after a long illness. She was 81. Helene was predeceased by her parents Harold and Dorothy Vernon. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lawrence, her daughter Linda Ramos, and her two cherished grandchildren Stephanie and Steven. She is also survived by her sister Joan and her husband Theodore Gerrig. She graduated from Boston University in 1953 with a degree in education; she taught and loved elementary school work in Del Rio, Texas; Rome, New York; and Chateauroux, France all while her husband bravely served in the United States Air Force. She then taught in White Plains, New York and finally for over 20 years in Irvington, New York. Teaching and reading to young children was both her professional work and her past time. She retired from teaching in 1994. One of her greatest pleasures was traveling and she saw most of the world, including two trips to China. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
