Helene Anello

Helene Guadagno Anello (91) died peacefully on Sunday, April 30. Born in the Bronx, NY, she was predeceased by her loving husband Joe, her parents Johanna Sordi and Lorenzo Guadagno and her step father Camillo Sordi. Helene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She is survived by her children: Elaine (Mike) Prendergast, Rosanne, Donna (Jim) Mannion, Joseph (Susan); grandchildren: Meghan (Gabriel) Smith, Brandon Prendergast (Gregg Stull), Laura Mannion, Jeffrey Mannion, Paul (Meghan), Stuart, Thomas; great grandchildren: Isabella, Benjamin, Bryan, Madelyn, Mackenzie; sister: Mary Ann Maiolo. Though her primary and cherished role was wife, mother and homemaker, Helene enjoyed the years she spent working at Bankers Trust in Yonkers. She spent many hours volunteering and helping friends and neighbors. Helene enjoyed leading water aerobics classes, loved to travel and loved babies. After her stroke, she worked diligently to return to independence at her home at Foxwood in Pleasantville, NY. Helene will also be remembered for her fantastic Italian cooking, home making and knitting and sewing skills. A private service will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. There will be a memorial Mass to celebrate Helene's life on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, NY.
