Helen S Oleson

Helen S. Oleson died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 5, 2015 in Rye Brook, NY. She was 92. Helen was born in White Plains to William and Ella Scofield on November 9, 1922. She was a graduate of White Plains High School in the class of 1940. Helen then attended NYU, graduating in 1944 with a BA in Government. She married Charles J. Oleson on July 20, 1945.
Helen worked for Equitable Life Insurance Company in NYC in the group annuities department. She was a devoted member of the Woman's Club of White Plains for over 74 years, where she served multiple leadership roles, including president from 1968-1970. Helen also served as president of the College Club of White Plains and the Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School PTA. Helen was a longtime member of the Westchester Hills Golf Club. She was a devoted member of the Ridgeview Congregational Church and the Church in the Highlands. In her free time, Helen was an avid reader and an accomplished bridge player.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard C. Oleson (Debra); her daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Oleson; her three grandchildren, William S. Oleson Jr. (Helen), Katherine O. Frano (Steven), and Evan W. Oleson (Emily Porter); as well as her two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Jack. She is predeceased by her husband Charles J. Oleson, and son, William S. Oleson.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8 at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 9 at 11 AM at the Church in the Highlands, 35 Bryant Avenue, White Plains, NY.
