Harold W. Hard, Jr

Harold W. Hard, Jr. 66 of Thornwood, N.Y. died suddenly on March 8, 2013. (Ret.NYPD). He was born on April 27, 1946 to the late Harold and Mary (nee Lyons)Hard in NYC. He was a graduate of Power Memorial Academy in NYC and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Harold served proudly in the US Marines from 1966-1972. He was a retired police detective with NYPD, retiring in 1987 after 20 years. He was a past president of the Retired Detectives of NY. Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Constance (nee Marchewka) Hard of Thornwood, N.Y. and by his loving children, Kevin (Suzanne) Hard of Glen Rock, N.J., Melissa (George) Leyva of Newtown, CT., Kristine (Brian) Fallon of West Hartford, CT., Nancy (Michael) Hopkins of Mt.Kisco, N.Y. and Colleen (Aries) Massaro of NYC. Also survived by his 11 cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Will, Sean, Kyle, Maren, Brooke, Kaitlyn, Brady, Daniel, Sophie, Riley and a new baby in July. one sister, Irene Lewis of Bronxville, N.Y. and one brother, Tim Hart of NYC also survive. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, on Sunday, 5-9 PM. and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Innocents Church, Pleasantville, N.Y. on Tuesday, 10 AM. Entombment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Heart Assoc. would be appreciated.
