Giuseppe Martelli, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather died peacefully at the age of 94 after a brief illness at Phelps Memorial Hospital on April 12, 2014. He was born on March 11, 1920 in Lanciano, Prov Cheiti Italy and married his beloved late wife Endina Polidoro in January 1952 and migrated to the United States in March of 1956 with their son Anthony. He was also a veteran of the Italian Armed Forces and suffered as a Russian POW during the war. He worked in the construction industry and in 1960 moved with his family to Elmsford, New York and has been a resident ever since. He was employed by the Town of Greenburg as a Skilled Laborer until his retirement and also worked as a landscaper. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years and mother Endina who died in July of 2002. He is survived by his two sons Anthony of Buchanan, NY, James and Louise of Wappinger Falls, NY, four grandchildren Joseph, Dina, Anthony and Stephanie and his two great grandchildren Ryan and Avery, his loving brother and sister-in-law Emilio and Anna Martelli of Elmsford and many nieces and nephews both here in America and Italy. He was the loving the patriarch of the family with a kind, engaging smile, a sense of humor to always try and lift the spirits of others and a generous heart who always looked to help others. He will be very much missed.
