Gilda Margaret Esperito

Gilda Margaret Esperito , a long time resident of Ossining, N Y died on March 5, 2013 at the Hudson Valley Hospital. She was 89. Gilda was born April 1, 1923 in Ossining to Domenic and Marina D'Emidio Cretara. She was educated in Ossining and graduated from Ossining High School in 1941 where she participated in athletics. On December 16, 1945 she married Anthony J. Esperito at St. Ann's Church in Ossining. Mrs. Esperito was an active member of St. Ann's Church for many years serving as President and Treasurer of the Sodality, the Altar Guild and worked at the Festival. She had also been a member of the Ossining Golden Agers Club #1 serving as Vice President and Acting President, the Columbiettes Auxiliary of #311 Ossining, Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge #1486 Ossining, avid bowler, PTA of St. Ann's and Mary Immaculate Schools, Girl Scouting and worked as a supervisor at the voting polls. She will be remembered for her friendliness, cooking, baking and most of all for her love of family. She is survived by three children Donna Lee, Anthony, Maureen and her husband Chris DePaoli, two granddaughters Lara and Natasha DePaoli, one sister Eva and her husband Pat Zimbalatti, several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Family members who died earlier include five brothers Charles, William, Mario, Angelo and Dante Cretara and one sister Concetta Balassone. Calling hours are Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. Funeral Mass is Saturday 10:30 am at St. Ann's Church. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery
