Gertrude J. Baaden

Gertrude “Geri” J. Baaden of Stuart, Florida, formally from New York, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. She was 85 years old, born in Jamaica Queens, NY on January 19, 1936 to Thomas and Nora (Sullivan) Driscoll. She was the youngest of seven siblings. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz and went on to be a New York City grade school teacher in the South Bronx for 33 years.

Geri was predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Baaden in 2017. She is survived by her five children, Christine (son-in-law John), Mark (daughter-in-law Selena), Elizabeth, Theresa and Samantha, as well as her four grandchildren (Samantha, Michael, Jack and Kate), one great-grandchild (Paityn) and her oldest sister, Eleanor.

Geri was a remarkably selfless and brilliant woman. Her life was filled with compassion and love for animals, nature and children. She brought light and wisdom to the many lives that she touched. She had a loving and positive impact on the lives of her children, extended family, friends and the countless students that she taught over her decades serving in education. Her example was always one of motivation and inspiration to do their best in their own endeavors and to serve others in the spirit of Christian values.
