Gary Lee Wittenberg
2/23/50 - 10/13/22
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Wittenberg of Yorktown Heights, New York. Gary was born in the Bronx to Edythe (nee Schenck) and the late Harold (Witty), and was younger brother to Jack. Gary graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and has degrees from Hunter College, Lehman College, and Manhattan College. He had a rewarding career as a teacher and administrator in the New York City Public School system for nearly 50 years.
Gary loved sports and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan. Some of Gary’s favorite pastimes included fantasy football leagues with family, card games with his lifelong friends, and searching for the perfect addition to his various collections of antiques. Gary was known for his quick wit and unique perspective when discussing current events, politics, sports, and movies.
Gary was a devoted husband to Carole (nee Healy), loving father to Robert (Morgan), Brian, and Michael, and adoring grandfather to Benjamin. He was loved, cherished, and will be greatly missed by his many friends and extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gary’s name to the American Cancer Society.
