Gaierose Haskel

Gaierose Haskel of White Plains, NY, died January 24, 2015. She was 88 years old. Gaierose was born July 3, 1926 in White Plains, NY, daughter of the late William and Marguerite Popkave.
She worked as a Public Health Nurse for Westchester County and later for Wayne County in Newark, NY for 35 years. In recent years she volunteered at Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester. Gaierose was beloved by her family and many friends and also enjoyed the Opera.
Surviving are her four children, Abbie (Ed Caskey) Schonfeld, Patricia W. Haskel, William D. (Donna) Haskel and Dorinda Haskel Palladino. Five adoring grandchildren and three cherished great grandchildren also survive her. Gaierose was pre deceased by her husband in 1960, Samuel E. Haskel, MD and son-in-law Richard P. Schonfeld. Funeral service will be held at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains on January 26, 2015 at 10:00am. Interment will follow privately. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the home of Mrs. Haskel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Hospice, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
