Fred Swartz

Fred R. Swartz a longtime resident of Ossining, NY died on May 9, 2011. He was 83. Mr. Swartz worked as a Production Manager for Look Magazine in New York City and later in his career worked as the Office Manager for Peterson Publishing Co., and Golding Industries. Fred was born November 22, 1927 in New York City to Anthony and Emily Rex Swartz. He graduated in 1945 from the Brooklyn High School for Specially Trades. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American legion. On May 3, 1952 he was married to Grace A. in Brooklyn. She died on 2002. Fred had lived in Ossining for nearly 60 years. He was a past President of the Ossining Little League Baseball, Lecturer and Parish Council member of St. Ann's Church and an avid NY Giant Football fan. Fred is survived by 2 sons Frederick R. Jr., of Ramsey, NJ and Richard of Belair, Md., 2 daughters Jacqueline Gilmartin of Eastchester and Catherine Irwin of New Fairfield, Ct., 1 Brother Lawrence of Hobe Sound, Fl., and 8 Grandchildren. Calling hours are Thursday, May 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. 914-769-4404. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 10 am at St. Ann's Church, Ossining. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the American Heart Association.
