Fred Pucarelli

Fred V. Pucarelli of Hawthorne, passed away peacefully August 11, 2023 surrounded by his family at the age of 99. Born in White Plains June 12, 1924 to Casimiro and Elvira (Orlando) Pucarelli.

Fred was a graduate of Greenburgh High Schol class of 1942 active in the music and theater programs. After graduation Fred enlisted in the US Army and received training throughout the United States preparing him to serve with the 8th Army Airforce in Ipswich England. Fred completed 36 combat missions as Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress - "Baby Me" receiving the Air Medal for Meritorious Service and 4 Bronze Stars with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Fred returned to the US to study Business and Finance at NYU working for Wise Potato Chips and eventually starting his own residential building and remodeling business, Builders Local 895 and NY State Real Estate Broker.

Fred was an active member of the community as a member of the Fairview Fire Department, the Valhalla American Legion Post 1038, Holy Rosary Parish and the Mt. Pleasant Seniors serving 10 years as President.

In 1950 he married the late Ida (Ricciardi) Pucarelli, they have two sons Fred C. (Trish) Pucarelli and Robert F. (Naomi) Pucarelli, six grandchildren Elizabeth (Chris) Colello, Daniel (Alison) Pucarelli, Emily (Joe) Magaletti and Andrea (Ben) Pucarelli, Miles (Juliet) Pucarelli and Keith (Sabrina) Pucarelli. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Charlotte, Christopher and Natalie Colello and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fred loved playing golf and the trumpet but mostly he loved spending time with his family and friends and we were blessed to have him as our patriarch and role model.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made in his name to the Mt.
Pleasant Seniors or the Valhalla American Legion Post 1038.
