Florence M. Arnold

Florence M. Arnold,wife,mother and proud grandmother, peacefully passed away on February 28,2017.

She was 93 years old. Born in New York City, Florence's family moved to Thornwood, New York while she was in elementary school. She lived in Thornwood until she became an Army Nurse in WWII. She proudly served as a nurse, where she ultimately met and married Frederick "Fritz" Arnold. They were married 58 years before his passing in 2003. Florence loved to travel and she and Fritz went on exciting trips, most especially to Europe. Last May, She had the opportunity to visit the WWII memorial in Washington DC, which gave her a great deal of pleasure. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends. Mostly, she cherished her time that she spent with her family. During her life, she went to work as an RN, spending most of her career as a psychiatric nurse. She leaves behind her children, Maureen Arnold; Judith Hecker (David); Rick Arnold (Donna); and her grand daughter Kailee Kenney (Doug). She is predeceased by a son, Brian; her parents, William J. O'Brien and Mae O'Brien; and a brother, Ray O'Brien. Florence loved her dogs as trusted family members, Many of whom have came from rescues. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York in her name would be greatly appreciated. Visitation at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, is on Friday from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 11 AM. Entombment to follow
