Evelyn Raffaelli

EVELYN RAFFAELLI, a longtime resident of Hawthorne NY, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at age 101.

Evelyn was born & raised in Bronx NY, to the late Angelo and Maria (Spadone) Volpicelli.  While working at Liberty Lace Co., she met her future husband, Joseph, and they married on September 6, 1942.  Evelyn was then employed at Treasure Chest China in Eastchester for over 26 years, winning many “Top Saleswoman” awards and the admiration of her co-workers and employers alike. Evelyn also worked for the family business, Cascade Florist, in both Yonkers and Hartsdale,  for many years.  She stopped working at age 90 and she drove until she was 95.  Evelyn liked to go to casinos to play the slots and loved knitting and crocheting many items for family and friends, especially making blankets for numerous babies. But mostly, she loved spending time with her family, especially at all the holidays and vacations.

Beloved wife of 54 years of the late Joseph Raffaelli. Devoted mother of Thomas (Jeanne), Linda (John) Torpey, and Ralph (Nancy). Loving grandmother of Christopher (Kimberly), Lisa, Brian, Michael T. (Lauren), Joseph, Debra, and Nicole, and great-grandmother of Michael H., Ashley, Nicholas, Amanda, Deanna, Julianna, Isabella, Kayla, Cory, and Piper. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Evelyn was the last survivor of 8 siblings, being predeceased by, Mildred, Mary, Frances, Filomena, Frank, Andrew and Pauline.

Visitation will take place at HAWTHORNE FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. at 11AM. Entombment follows at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Hawthorne, N.Y.
