Esperanza Wood

Esperanza Wood 90, of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y. died on June 9, 2013. She was born on Aug.30, 1922 to the late Angel and Petronila (nee Genovese) Gonzalez in Puerto Rico. She proudly served in the US Army during WWII. She worked for Frank B. Hall Insurance Co. in NYC. Esperanza was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frederick Wood in 1996 and by her two sisters, Sally and Dora. She is survived by her loving daughters, Natalie Longo of North Salem, N.Y. and Jeanette (Mark) Mulvaney of Centennial, Col. two brothers, Jose and Eddie and four sisters, Lourdes, Romona, Mercedes and Edith. Also survived by her four cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Derrick, Jessica and Melissa. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday (today) 6-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Thursday 12 Noon. Interment to follow.
