Emilia D'Angelo, a longtime resident of Hawthorne, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 28, 2025 at the New York Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor; at the age of 90. She was born on April 28, 1934 in Collebrincioni, Laquila, Italy, daughter of the late Giovanni & Laura (nee Ciufetelli) Nanni. Emilia immigrated to the United States when she was 16 years old; where she started working in a dress factory. She would go on and work several years as a seamstress which she loved.
On January 9, 1955, she married the love of her life, Delfino D'Angelo; they were married in her village church in Collebrincioni, Laquila, Italy (Church of San Silvestro). They lived in Italy until July 1955, when they immigrated back to the United States, and continued her career as a seamstress until retiring.
Emilia was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and bingo, particularly loved spending time with her family. She also loved listening to her Italian Music.
Along with her beloved husband of 70 years, Emilia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Anne and Michael D'Addona; her four grandchildren, Michael Anthony D'Addona, Anthony J. (Nicole) D'Angelo, Stephanie D'Angelo and Lauren (Ian) D'Addona-Stewart; one great-granddaughter Mia D'Angelo. She is also survived by her one brother Edmondo (Fortunata) Nanni, and several nieces & nephews.
Sadly she was predeceased by her son Anthony D'Angelo on December 12, 2019. Along with her son and parents, Emilia was also predeceased by her brother Aldo Nanni.
Her Family will receive Friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 4-8pm at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 at Holy Rosary Church 170 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne, followed by entombment to Ferncliff Cemetery Mausoleum, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, NY.
