Elvira A. Centofanti 94, of North White Plains, N.Y. passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2015. She was born on July 25, 1921 to the late John and Emilia (nee DelMonaco) DiCenzo in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy. She married Joseph on March 31, 1939 in Italy. They moved to the United States and settled in Tarrytown for 20 years and then lived in North White Plains. She worked as a seamstress in Tarrytown. Elvira is predeceased by her devoted husband Joseph Centofanti in 2008, her son Albert in 1978 and her brother Frank DiCenzo in 2015. She is survived by her loving sons Joseph E. and his wife Miriam of Suwanee, GA and David and his wife Debbi of Yorktown Hieghts, NY. Also survived by her sister Eda Bueti and her husband Anthony of Sleepy Hollow, NY, her brother Hugo DiCenzo of Irvington, NY, her sister in law Maria DiCenzo of CT, 4 cherished grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elvira was a member of the North Castle Seniors and a former member of St. Ann's Society of the Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow, NY. She will be remembered for her love of life and family and her famous cookies. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Monday 4-8PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, NY on Tuesday 10AM.
