Elsie Louise Roemer passed away peacefully on July 1 2013. Born June 14, 1912 she lived 101 happy years filled with work, family, friends and travel. She lived her early years in the Yorkville section of Manhattan, later moving to the Bronx and then White Plains. She was one of the earliest AT&T long lines operators handling international calls, later becoming a communications supervisor and a member of the Pioneers organization at AT&T. In later years she donated her time generously to the Rosary Hill Home. Her final years were spent knitting; reading and watching the world go by in Sarah Neuman nursing home in Mamaroneck, helped by her good friend Claire Nicita.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Marie and Henry Roemer and her beloved brother Frederick. She is survived by her nephew Frederick Roemer Jr. of Rumson, NJ and her grand nieces, Alexis Benson and Christine Roemer both of New York City.
Funeral services will be private. Memorial contributions in Elsie's memory may be made to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne NY 10532.
