Elizabeth Briante Hradek

Elizabeth (Betty) Briante Hradek of Thornwood, N.Y. passed away on January 26, 2010 at the age of 80. She was born on January 11, 1930 in White Plains, N.Y. to Anthony and Lecia (DeSepio) Briante. Graduating from White Plains High School in 1947, she went on to study at the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Yonkers, where she was awarded a Certificate of Practical Nursing. She practiced nursing for several years and then joined Reichhold Chemical Company in White Plains as assistant to the Executive Vice President of the firm. A number of years later, Betty left Reichhold to join her brothers at the familys construction firm, Briante & Sons, as the office manager and comptroller. Bettys love of family knew no bounds. Cooking was one of the highlights of her life, always bringing family together. Montauk held a special place in her heart, and her dogs did too. Betty is survived by her two daughters; Beth Zicca of Valhalla, N.Y. and Mary Ellen Hradek of Thornwood, N.Y. her granddaughter Jennifer Lauren Hradek, her sister Dolores Briante and her brother Anthony (Pamela) Briante and numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Lily. Recently predeceased by her brother Rocco Briante. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Innocents Church, Pleasantville, N.Y. on Saturday 10 AM. Interment, Mt.Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. Donations to American Kidney Fund- www. Kidneyfund.org or Elmsford Animal Shelter.
