Elizabeth H. Cannady, 96, died unexpectedly but comfortably on January 14, 2023 at The Enclave Rehabilitation Center in Rye, N.Y. Elizabeth was born on January 20, 1926, in Charlotte, N.C. She was born to Tinch Carson, father and Emma Cloud, mother, who also had six other children. Elizabeth was the last surviving sibling.
At a young age, in the 1930's, Elizabeth and her brothers and sisters moved to Queens, New York from North Carolina in search of a better life. There she met Wallie Cannady, who owned a candy shop with his brother, Ray in Corona, Queens. In 1951, on April 22, Elizabeth and Wallie were married. Elizabeth and Wallie had two children, Deborah and Patricia and then later moved to White Plains N.Y.
Elizabeth worked full time at Chase Manhattan in New York City while being a full time mother until they moved to White Plains were she began a career with The Bank Of New York until she retired. She enjoyed events held
At the Greenburgh Community Center, especially Bridge with her friends. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time with friends and family and was an avid member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in White Plains, N.Y.
She is survived by Jayson Champion, grandson; Paulette Smart, niece; Carol Carson, niece; Rhonda Mayo, niece; as well as many more cousins, nieces (grand) and nephews (grand). A memorial service will be held at Ballard-Duran at 9:30am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, on 2 Maple Ave. Following the memorial there will be prayer at Elizabeth's final resting place at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
