Edward Francis Leonard formerly of New Rochelle, N.Y. passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2020, the day of his wife Yvonne’s birthday, at the age of 95. Edward entered the Marine corps at the age of 18 and served in eastern campaign in World War II. He met the love of his life Yvonne Noel in Quebec and married in 1950. He completed his studies at Columbia University and became a professor at Iona College in 1955 where he taught Political Science and American history for 50 years. At the age of 60, Ed acquired his pilot’s license. One of his many loves included playing Dixieland jazz on the saxophone and clarinet. Ed was an active member of the Catholic Church and a eucharistic minister at Holy Family Church.Edward was a devoted father and words cannot describe how he will be missed by all of his loved ones. He is survived by his 4 children Douglas, Claire, Priscilla, Tom,; his daughter and son in laws ; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Due to the current restrictions, a small service will be held with immediate family only, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Yvonne and mother Emily at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
