Edward J. Brady

Edward J. Brady 84, of Thornwood, N.Y. and formerly of White Plains, N.Y. died on May 17, 2011 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. He was born on March 24, 1927 to the late Edward and Elizabeth (nee Murray) Brady in Dublin, Ireland. Ed proudly served in both the US Army and the Merchant Marines during WWII. He also proudly served on the Westchester County Board of Legislators from 1971-1991 and during some of those years served as Chairman of the Board of Legislators. Ed served on the Westchester Community College Board and the Westchester Medical Center Board and was a longtime member of the Thornwood American Legion. He was predeceased by his first wife Gwenn Brady in 1980. Ed is survived by his second wife Mary (nee Scholl) Brady of Thornwood, N.Y. and by his loving children; Kenneth E. (Debra) Brady of Ghent, N.Y., Marilyn Medini of Bonita Springs, Fla., Edward J. (Shannon) Brady of Patterson, N.Y., Kevin M. (Camille) of Rye Brook, N.Y. and by his two step children; Charles Benedix of Elizaville, N.Y. and Susan Chan of West Hartford, Conn. one brother, Patrick Brady of Bonita Springs, Fla. and two sisters, Ita Murray of VA. and Elizabeth Aucello of Fla. Also survived by his 16 cherished grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday 4-9 PM. Funeral Mass Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Friday 10 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to Rosary Hill Home 600 Linda Ave. Hawthorne, N.Y. 10532 would be appreciated.
